ABOUT THE RESTAURANT

Over the past six decades Walter’s Restaurant has become an institution in the Claremont Village.

The restaurant originally opened in 1957 as a popular hamburger joint, and was then taken over by Nangy and Fahima Ghafarshad in 1973. Together they transformed the restaurant into an upscale dining establishment catering to all types of tastes and occasions. The menu that Nangy and Fahima created celebrates the cuisine from their native Afghanistan as well as modern creations inspired by the New American food movement. The décor features one-of-a-kind photographs and artwork by several local artists, conjuring the comfort of home with just a touch of the exotic.

Walter’s has become a popular tradition for many in Southern California, and we’re grateful for the continued support of this incredible community!

ABOUT THE TOWN

Claremont — located in Southern California, about thirty miles east of downtown Los Angeles — is in the Pomona Valley, at the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Home to seven colleges, it’s a town rich in history. Once surrounded by orange and lemon groves, the Claremont Village is still home to beautiful, old, historic buildings dating back as far as the late 1800’s. The downtown Village offers a unique collection of boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and cafes. In 2007 it was rated as the #5 city to live in the United States, and remains the only city in California to ever crack the Top Ten.
